Why wont pdf download in safari

I know that this is a fairly common problem, but I've never had it before: if a pdf is displayed in a Safari window, clicking the download icon in the overlay in the bottom middle of the window doesn't do anything. I know that I can do a "Save As," but I'd like to regain this functionality. Sign up to join this community.

And yet another neat trick; if you happen to forget where you got a particular PDF from but you want to know the source URL, you can retrieve a files original direct download URL using this Safari trick.

If you want to download PDF instead of opening, you can try the following tricks:. This will instantly download the PDF file to your Downloads folder, unless you changed the download destination in Safari.
